Welcome to the Elizabeth Wadsworth Chapter, NSDAR!

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer women’s service organization comprised of over 3,000 chapters.

The Elizabeth Wadsworth Chapter, NSDAR, was organized on October 8, 1894, with 30 charter members. We were the first NSDAR chapter formed in Maine. Elizabeth Wadsworth, for whom the chapter is named, was the wife of Peleg Wadsworth, an American officer during the American Revolutionary War.

We invite and welcome you to attend any of the Elizabeth Wadsworth Chapter, NSDAR, meetings or events, meet our Daughters, and explore what we do. The chapter meets nine times a year. Meetings include a social period, a business session, and a program. Join us as we honor our American Revolutionary War Patriots.

We look forward to your inquiries and hope you’ll navigate our website to learn more about the Elizabeth Wadsworth Chapter, NSDAR. For more information on the Daughters of the American Revolution or our chapter, please contact us.

What We Do

HISTORIC PRESERVATION
Historic Preservation is one of the main focuses of the mission of DAR.
Our members participate in a wide variety of historic preservation projects as it is crucial to saving our history for future generations.
EDUCATION
“Promote then as an object of primary importance, Institutions for the general diffusion of knowledge. In proportion as the structure of a government gives force to public opinion, it is essential that public opinion should be enlightened.” – George Washington
PATRIOTISM
For over 130 years,  Daughters have carried the torch of patriotism. Patriotism is the foundation of the many DAR activities that take place in local communities across the country.

July 4, 2026 – America Celebrates Its 250th!

We stand on the eve of a grand commemoration. In July 2026, the United States will mark its 250th anniversary and DAR is preparing to celebrate in a big way!

This occasion provides DAR members, as descendants of the generation that secured American independence, the remarkable opportunity to celebrate the longevity of the democratic experiment for which our ancestors fought, not even knowing if the new nation would survive.

We have talented Daughters ready to help you on your journey to becoming a Daughter.

Contact us now, so you will be a Daughter and can join us at the party in 2026.
