Join Us - Become a Daughter!
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR ) is a volunteer women’s service organization, and any woman is eligible for membership who is no less than 18 years of age and can prove lineal, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence.
Do you have an American Revolutionary War Patriot in your family tree? Daughters provide community service related to historic preservation, women’s issues, education, the environment, veterans, citizenship, and patriotism. As a member of the DAR, you can continue the legacy of your Patriot ancestor by supporting these endeavors.
Founded in 1890, there are approximately 3,000 chapters located across the United States and around the world. The original Congressional Charter tasks the NSDAR to locate the unmarked graves of revolutionary soldiers and their wives and to report these findings to the Smithsonian and Congress. DAR members and chapters support historic restorations and act to preserve historic revolutionary landmarks. The DAR provides scholarships to outstanding students and supports citizenship.
The first step to membership in DAR is to gather the genealogical information that you already have, then contact our chapter. We will guide you through the application process and answer any questions you may have. You do not need to have completed your genealogical research to start the application process toward becoming a Daughter. You will be welcome to attend our chapter meetings.
