Membership

Do you have a Revolutionary War Patriot in your family tree? DAR membership is open to any woman, 18 or older, who can prove blood lineage to any man or woman who rendered service (civil or military) to the cause of the American Revolution. Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution honors and preserves the legacy of your Patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago American Patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of the DAR, through participation in our various programs and activities, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors. DAR members and chapters support historic restorations and act to preserve historic revolutionary landmarks. Tasked by the original Congressional Charter, NSDAR members locate the unmarked graves of revolutionary soldiers and their wives and report these findings to the Smithsonian and Congress. The DAR provides scholarships to outstanding students and supports citizenship.

Your membership process begins when you contact the DAR to discuss your interest and the genealogical data pointing to descent from a Patriot ancestor. You do not need to have your genealogical research completed in order to start the application process. We will guide you through the application process and answer any questions you may have.

We look forward to receiving your membership inquiry at Lady Knox Chapter NSDAR.
