I have long loved history and genealogy. The DAR is both of these wrapped up in a nice warm embrace from other wonderful women who care about our shared heritage. Through the DAR I am able to make change happen, to positively influence others and share the history of our great nation.

Other Testimonials

I joined DAR because a friend wanted me to, and I celebrated ten years in DAR in 2018. I am a member of DAR because I believe in the missions of patriotism, history, honoring veterans and empowering women. I serve my chapter and state with pride and believe that these experiences have helped me become a better leader and public speaker as well.

The reason I joined DAR was to make sure that my patriot, Peter Lehr, was recognized and remembered for his service. No one had ever proved his service, my application was the first.

For me, it was the DAR motto – God, Home, and Country that drew me. It matched my core beliefs. I joined as a Junior and am now a 30+ year member. Thanks to DAR, I have long lasting friendships with like-minded women from all across the country. With their committee structure, DAR promotes historic preservation, education and patriotism.

I am a third-generation Daughter of the American Revolution. After my mother died, I sorted through her stacks of papers and I realized how much they meant to my mother, and how they all related to the DAR. I joined the DAR so that I, too, would one day have the opportunity to have such a meaningful endeavor.

I was attending a Mayflower luncheon and began talking to the woman sitting next to me. She inquired why I didn't join DAR. I replied that I didn't want to join a bunch of stuffy old ladies. She laughed and said she was one of the stuffy old ladies of DAR. So! I joined to "check it out." I love everything about it. The best part of DAR is the friendships and the service work we do.

I discovered DAR through my genealogy research, and I joined to honor my mother. She died when I was 23, and never knew about her lineage. It was a thrill to have her ancestry verified when I was accepted.
