Welcome!
The Penobscot Expedition Chapter, NSDAR, are members of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR). This organization is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer women’s service organization comprising 3,000 chapters.
The Penobscot Expedition Chapter, NSDAR, was organized on May 13, 1972, in Searsport, Maine. The name was suggested to commemorate the ill-fated Penobscot Expedition of 1779, the largest infantry-naval engagement of the Revolutionary War.
More than fifty years later, the chapter is still active, vital, and growing. Today’s Penobscot Expedition Chapter, NSDAR, members are a diverse group of women. We are professionals, paraprofessionals, artists, homemakers, veterans, and retirees of differing ages and backgrounds. Through our American Revolutionary War Patriot ancestors, we share a common bond that unites us in a common mission: to perpetuate the memory and the spirit of the men and women who achieved American independence; to promote the development of an enlightened public opinion; and to foster patriotic citizenship. Penobscot Expedition Chapter, NSDAR, members are actively involved in chapter projects and community events promoting patriotism, historic preservation, and education.
Do you believe that you may have an ancestor who served or aided the cause of the American Revolution? We have talented women ready to help you with your application and the research to prove your lineage and help you become a Daughter of the American Revolution. We invite and welcome you to attend any of the Penobscot Expedition Chapter, NSDAR meetings or events, meet our Daughters, and explore what we do.
